COmmittee information

Every PMAH member is required to give of her (precious) time.
While leadership positions can involve 10 or more hours of work each month, committee membership is less demanding and typically involves only occasional obligations or a few hours of volunteering a month. (Because we're all stay-at-home moms, most assignments can be done at home or while accompanied by children.)
  • Board Positions / Committee Chairs / Subgroup Leaders

These leadership positions are open to the general membership and are publicized in the newsletter when they become available. Board positions include President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Director and several Vice President spots based on the birth years of the membership's children. Committee chairs include Events, Publicity, Hospitality and the Newsletter. Subgroup leaders serve as liaisons to the Board from PMAH's various playgroups.

  • Events Committee

This busy committee plans our parties, outings, activities and community service projects. Members gather for occasional planning and brainstorming meetings and then work as individuals or teams to organize specific events. The committee also produces the monthly calendar of events that PMAH members receive with their newsletter. Committee members are asked to host or help with at least one event per quarter.

  • Hospitality Committee

This committee plays a threefold role: It welcomes new members into PMAH at regular New Member Teas. It offers support and assistance to members who are experiencing a family change, crisis or special need. Lastly, the committee helps set-up, clean-up and provide food for the two general membership meetings held by PMAH each year.

  • Newsletter Committee

PMAH produces a monthly newsletter that features information about upcoming events, stories and pictures of our recent activities, and articles related to moms and young children.  Members of the committee may write occasional articles or a regular column, such as the Question of the Month. Writers, editors and layout artists are needed!

  • Publicity Committee

New PMAH members are always welcome and wanted, in order to keep our organization growing and because our members "graduate" out of active membership when their youngest child turns six. Members of the Publicity Committee produce flyers for our various events and help distribute our promotional materials by displaying them at convenient locations throughout Anne Arundel County (community bulletin boards, stores, doctors' offices, libraries, etc.).

If (when) you join PMAH, we hope you will take your commitment to PMAH committee service seriously. Your help is critical to our ongoing success!

    Help Wanted

As a member-driven, volunteer-run organization, every PMAH member needs to help—at least a little bit.

Put your experience and skills to use with PMAH.

Our members are moms who are or have been accountants, administrators, attorneys, editors, engineers, medical professionals, sales people, scientists,  soldiers, teachers, writers ... to name just a few of the careers our members have put on hold or scaled back.
